How to Implement a Rewarding Link Baiting Campaign

Link baiting is gaining the most hype in the online marketing world and is becoming the preferred way of natural link building.

As the definition would suggest, link baiting creates awareness that naturally attracts back links to your web page. This in return will result in someone proceeding to yours, through blogging, creating awareness on forums, taking advantage of communication on any site.

Various techniques of link baiting are frequently implemented to create the awareness, creating resources i.e. special reports, lists, article writing, even creating events, the most successful to date are the recent blog awards.

The first step in creating a successful link baiting campaign should be implementation of a debate on the subject relevant to your site, thus, creating awareness and in turn opening an opportunity to insert your site into the subject.

An example (not necessarily the easiest) of where the term link bating comes from is by looking at the world press. The phrase "there is no such thing as bad publicity" can be used as an example of it's origin, since bad press can be manipulated to work for you as opposed to against you.

When a reporter creates hype about a celebrity, they are in fact creating awareness and in turn potentially making people focus where they may not have in the past.

A successful link baiting campaign like any, should first start with accurate planning and understanding your target market. The next step is to ensure you are aware of how would you want to target your market and appreciate the amount of effort you are going to invest.

Creating a successful tool i.e. a Blog or Landing Page that in return will create links, must be utilized in order to ensure the link baiting campaign begins effectively.

If the upkeep of this tool is maintained and frequently attracts interest, it will result in links back to your site at a steady pace.

It is of course important to maintain a subjective view at all times in order to avert suspicion that your intentions may be simply to attract people to the site intended.
